Character Background and Description Nathan attained promotion to middle management in the coal company two years ago, and was quickly moved on-site from Ontario to the Sidney offices on the island. As such, his blood lacks affinity for the magic of the Fae and he has no power. While he is not alone in this—there are many on the island without power, especially in Sidney where commercial ventures center—he is still in a minority of the island. His job affords him a decent apartment downtown, making him walking distance from many of the city's amenities.
Nathan did not grow up immersed in the culture of the island and so holds no attachment to the island's traditional art forms like many his age. Instead, he was a metal-head in his late twenties; nothing too heavy, but he fits into pop and grunge culture easily. Because of this, he has found himself forming stronger relations on the island with those five to ten years younger than him instead of those his age. These relations extend to his girlfriend of one year, Michelle. Still unaccustomed to the island culture, he often wonders if she'd rather be dating someone who shares the power of the fae with her, regardless of reassurances otherwise.
